Thoughts on a May 1st Night ...

And so another May Day rolls in … things seem to be the same all over the world – the killing, the poverty, the diseases, the power crazy politicians and everything else in between. And you think five months down the road of New Year 2007 things could at least change for the better even if just a little bit.. If anything violence is at its highest, bombs are getting more sophisticated and I dare say people are getting much evil and intolerant of others different others than them self and the environment were living is depleting slowly but surely. This is not a ranting email rather just an observation. Mainstream media are either reporting a one sided or a story with no basis and alternative media makes you think and question things you thought you had a handle on.. yet as all this is going on, the people in Darfur are being massacred, bombs are going off in Iraq & Afghanistan, soldiers are dying, family on both sides of the war in Iraq & Afghanistan are shedding tears and grieving and the hurt will never die and sadly enough justice is never served and then there are the irresponsible act of the suicide bombers who are having a field day and terrorist who feel their actions are justified are once again behaving like little children thinking that its only about them, I can go on about the idiotic and pointless actions of these killers but then why ruin a perfectly good day – seeing that when I finish this little entry they will still be around and the state of the world will be as it is and of course we cannot ignore the plight of children in Africa are suffering from malnutrition and ultimately dying and then you have the Aids victims who because of the lack of funds are dying in conditions we can only begin to fathom or not at all.

From those suffering children we can’t help but think about the abused children – be it physically, emotionally, mentally and sexually. The most heinous of crimes against children by adults and sadly these adults are not strangers yet the people they feel safest with fathers’ mothers’ brothers uncles grandfather. The most nauseating none to say the least. Then on a global level there children working in sweatshops for big name brands, we cant ignore of child trafficking , children used for child pornography or prostituting . Innocents taken against their will being used as barter. These exploited children many from poverty ridden countries of the world are used abused and eventually discarded by individuals who after getting their moneys worth, but what is money when innocent children are being used and abused. Children are children and should be treated that way – to do otherwise is unthinkable. If we call ourselves human beings we should show for it because if we don’t I think we fall to the level below that of animals for even the most vicious of animals protect their young not abuse them …

When we look at the problems of the world the worst victims are the children innocent little ones who are made to pay for the ugly games the adults play. Images of children rummaging through trash dumps is never a visible sight for some of the world population but for children in poverty stricken and war torn countries its an uncommon sight. What little they scrape is money for food or food for themselves. The sad harsh realities of life. We don’t often feel because we don’t see but when we do it just breaks our hearts. Children are the future but what future is there under these circumstances?

What I have cited is probably only a portion of what the different communities of the world have to face on a daily basis. There are certain things that we know yet so many others which we are in the dark about.

With the issues that surround us which we have to deal with though indirectly there are those personal issues within ourselves which we only know and though we sometimes we think we cant handle it – we are stronger than we think we are and the events around the world serve as reminder of just how fortunate and strong we are and how we can better ourselves just by paying attention to the world around us – if only policy makers, invaders, abusers and killers share my sentiments.

So here I sit writing this and pondering about the world we live in – wondering if change will ever come wondering if the people who are not directly affected by these conflicts can come together as one instead of hurling harsh remarks to each other, use derogatory words and references and just work together to create peace understanding and tolerance in this world?

My thoughts on a an almost ending May 1st – the realities of life as observed by me ….
