Officially on vacation - 30 days kids free ..

0043am – may 26th 07.. my school holidays official starts today … and it will go on till may 24^th 07 – im kids free for 30days woo hooo lol that probably sounds bad coming from a pre school teacher but I think the kids share my sentiments but knowing me I will start missing them by the third week or earlier depends on how much fun I have this holidays.

As the picture illustrates, its 30 days of no lessons, no upper management nagging and no screaming kids or kids with a million questions – darn it I am going to miss that NOT heehee.. But I know my little niece will be one with a million questions when I go up to see my grandma. Btw the stickers on that picture are from my kids at school figured I would put it up with the calendar cute little flowers and insects and what nots.

On a general note it’s the mid year/ June/ first semester school holidays here in Singapore – you could call it the summer vacations which lasts for about 30 days. Most educational institutions are closed during this time.

Singapore is a relatively small country and for the locals when it comes to the school holidays there is really not many places to go unless you plan to play tourists and head out to the many attractions. I think Sentosa would be a big hit for the school holidays as would the beaches and theme parks. For the most part I think it will be trips to the mall because of the activities they have planned for the school holidays. There are other events like live cartoon shows – this school holidays its SpongeBob SquarePants Live! The Sponge Who Can Fly!. Some of the kids from my school would be going there , they’ve been talking about it all week. Then there are those who would be going out of the country for the holidays some to far away lands some of the neighboring countries which boasts of amazing destinations.

Unfortunately for the kids not all of them get to enjoy their holidays seeing some very competitive chose to use this time to prepare their kids for the next semester. which means keeping them at home. Or sending them for tuition classes and what not. Sad but true – I guess the competitive edge of the education system here is to be blame for that. I am all for taking trips to the library or workshops for the kids to get new experiences and learn new things but to study during the school holidays I don’t know I am just not big on that but then again that’s just me.

As for me I am all set for the rest & relaxation but knowing me that’s not going to happen but hey at least I get to take naps. For the most part I am taking time this vacation to catch up on my reading & writing, I have to go to my grandmas and help to wrap the wedding favors then there are some school stuff to do which can be done at the end of the school vacation and I am sure I will find a whole lot more things to do during the school holidays. But I know 7 days out of the 30 days are filled up for me with weddings.

Anyways I finally finished writing ‘C’s email before this blog entry and have already sent it. I wrote what was in my heart and in my mind. Sometimes you block things out of your mind and it takes something like this to unlock it and let it all out and maybe it’s for good reason too. I guess there are days when the thoughts and emotions just flow as the case was tonight. So right now I am waiting in anticipation as to his respond to the email. Keeping my fingers crossed.. So that’s it for now while I wait for a respond I will watch the panda cam for a bit, write a bit more and maybe my stubborn ass to bed ..
