Walking in Shadows

Just a little something to think about .....

Walking in Shadows..

Thousands of faces, blank expressions, empty speech

Why is it so hard to reach out and touch somebody?

We walk in shadows, passing by but never stopping to open your eyes and see

Every person has a depth far beyond the masks that we wear

But how many people take the time to truly know somebody?

We listen but do not hear, we ask but do not question

What if the quiet, downcast girl beside you has a beautiful voice & sings like an angel?

What is the loud mouthed, brash belly goes home to write love songs to his number one crush?

What if we are not content to stay in the shadows anymore?

What if we want to be uncovered for who we really are?

How do we sell our souls?

Open Your Heart to Chocolate

Open Your Heart to Chocolate

A new study by Japanese researchers will have chocoholics everywhere saying, "I told you so" to anyone who has ever criticized their hankering for cocoa.

Already linked to improved heart health in small does, researchers discovered compounds in dark chocolate also seem to also improve blood flow in the arteries. A compound called flavanoids, found in highest levels in dark chocolate, seems to be responsible for the positive effect. Study participants who ate white chocolate, which contains no flavanoids, had no improvement in blood flow.

But before you break out the candy bars, it's important to mention it took just 550 milligrams of dark chocolate, about the size of an aspirin, to gain the effect. Eat too much chocolate and the high fat and calorie content is likely to cancel out any cardiovascular gains, the experts say. So keep it in moderation. But go ahead and gleefully sprinkle a little ground dark chocolate in your coffee, on your berries, or atop your yogurt every day. Your heart will thank you! ..

And so its prove chocolate is good for you hail chocolate :P for those so conscious about your health and irk at the thought of chocolate (you know who you are ;) ) hope this puts your mind to rest :p dark chocolates are actually good.

I have to admit out of all the dark chocolate i have eaten, Lindt makes the best dark chocolate. Hersheys special dark is a tad sweet. Lindt however is perfect depending on how dark you want it. I know they have one which is 85% cocoa the ultimate in dark chocolate. I have had the 75% cocoa is good too - i do believe its time to try the 85% cocoa. Another recommedation would be the Lindt Intense Orange - Dark chocolate with a touch of orange and almond flakes another yummy one.

Dark chocolate can be to make them into little candy cups. I use a table spoon to a table spoon honey and about 2 cups of dark chocolate. Melt them over a low heat, once its melted, pour into candy cups or add nuts if you like and let it set in the fridge. Its yummy too. Speaking of chocolate i have a cousin who survives on chocolate and nuts as her meal nothing else and she sure does look good. Im thinking its a good diet buti dont think i can survive just on chocolate and nuts though it is a sinfully delightful thought. Then of course you can always dip strawberries in chocolate for strawberry covered chocolate for oh those romantic nights with your love ones or just to indulge and get a little happiness going in our heads ;). You know what they say about chocolate and its effects on us women ;).

Im craving for chocolate now and will be raiding my fridge right after i finish this entry. But before i do, here is a delicious looking moist mouth watering dark chocolate cupcake with a little chocolate truffle on top.. ummmmmmmm heaven ... ;) I can actually taste the chocolate filling oozing out of the cupcake and onto my tongue ummm soooo deliciously sweet! umm umm umm ... ;)

pictures & memories

Taking pictures of family and friends would serve its purpose in later days i would think. Because when someone close and dear to you passes on all thats left are pictures and memories. In the last four years or so i have attempted to take as many pictures as i can. and today i am so glad i did. even though pictures cant make you feel or touch the person but pictures can take you back to that day, the memory, the feeling, ttouch. I have taken many pictures of my grandmother who passed away a week ago today. Its pictures of the little things that we often over look. I am so glad i took those pictures because at least i know i have them to look at when i need a feel of her. These are little gestures like her eating, thinking talking. Its priceless and when the pain really sinks in which id does gradually you can look back and see the happy moments maybe that in itself will offer comfort.

Seeing a picture of her smiling brings back her voice .. watching her say no to cake when the maid is feeding reminds me of how she always shares whatever food the maid brings her. Asking us if we wanted it and sometimes she would even feed us. Thats just how special she is. Pictures of her comedic gestures reminds me of how funny she can be. Its just the little things that matter so much and thats what will be missed most about her.

So seriously taking lots of pictures is never a waste never is the investment in a digital camera because moments in life are worth capturing and keeping.

mommy's glare

Its a beautiful Saturday morning, the start of my very long school vacation and my attempts at healing and getting into the groove of writing again maybe that will help me take my mind of the loss of grandma recently.

I thought id start my blog with a little update from my favorite panda mei lan . she looked cute from Fridays updates and i thought her antics yesterday was adorable. i know i could relate to it. Lord knows theres been days when my own mom has glared at me the way lun lun glared at her own daughter. Mei reminds me of me when im trying to hide from mom when i get myself into trouble no hiding behind bushes more like behind sofas or completely out of sight heehee..

Pandas are so much like us especially when it comes to child rearing and being protective of their new borns. They show love and affection in a diffrent kind of way though no verbal they still feel it that love that bond. Maybe they do communicate verball in their own special panda language. A bond between a mother and child is a very special thing. No matter how the affection is shown or not, they love is still there and never dies. I am not a mom but when i am in class teaching i feel like i more than a teacher. The kids pay attention to you, they definitely wants your attention and expects you to tend to their every whiney demand heehee which its ok. They want them to heal their boo boos, expect you to comfort them - i think i many ways thats what a mother does. They love their kids even when they mess up and proud as a peacock when they have accomplished something. Thats how i feel about my little pre schoolers. I think i miss them already ;)) So anyways heres the update on my favorite panda and her glaring mom.. Have a great weekend all..

November 16th 2007

This morning showed me that I think Lun Lun is starting to get a little annoyed with Mei Lan. Of course, when Mei is up, she wants to play a lot or nurse. Lun, though, is not as obliging as she has been in the past, but Mei still does all she can to get a reaction out of her mom. Anyway, back to my point, when they were being put outside this morning, Lun was ready to go, being near the door, and Mei was down the hallway. Once the door was opened, Mei came running toward it, but Lun stopped her with a glare. She just turned her head and stared at Mei, causing her to stop dead in her tracks. Then, Mei turned the opposite way and walked away, while Lun headed out into the habitat. It took another 30 minutes for Mei to head out and rejoin her mother, which of course, delayed my routine by that much. I had never seen Lun do this before; in the past, she had pushed Mei off, but nothing like this. We’ll just have to wait and see if this is a continuing trend or just a one-time thing.
